The Yellow Jacket Cichlid (Parachromis friedrichsthalii) is a striking Central American predator known for its intense yellow coloration covered with bold black markings. As the fish matures, its contrasting pattern and powerful body shape become increasingly impressive, making it an excellent centerpiece for a large aggressive cichlid setup.

Yellow Jackets are territorial and can become highly aggressive, particularly as they mature or begin breeding. Tankmates should be carefully selected and consist of similarly sized, robust fish capable of defending themselves. Plenty of space, rocks, driftwood, and visual barriers are recommended to establish territories and reduce aggression.

These cichlids are enthusiastic feeders and should receive a varied diet of quality carnivore or cichlid pellets supplemented with foods such as shrimp, krill, insects, and other protein-rich offerings. With proper care, the Yellow Jacket develops into an exceptionally colorful and imposing display fish.
