Platinum Veiltail Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare)
The Platinum Veiltail Angelfish is a refined and eye-catching variant of Pterophyllum scalare, prized for its solid metallic-white coloration and dramatically elongated, flowing fins. Its “platinum” sheen gives off a subtle reflective glow under aquarium lighting, while the veiltail finnage adds an extra level of elegance and movement to any display.
This variety maintains the classic angelfish body shape but is elevated by its extended dorsal, anal, and caudal fins, creating a graceful, almost ribbon-like appearance in the water. As they mature, their finnage becomes more pronounced, making them a true centerpiece fish.
Despite their peaceful appearance, Platinum Veiltails are still cichlids with semi-aggressive tendencies and light predatory instincts. Proper tank planning and compatible stocking are key to long-term success.
Tank Size:
A minimum of 29 gallons for a single angelfish is recommended, though 40+ gallons is strongly preferred—especially for pairs or community setups. Taller aquariums are ideal to accommodate their long, flowing fins.
Diet:

Feed 1–2 times daily in controlled portions to maintain water quality.
