The Marble Blue Angelfish is a visually dynamic variant of Pterophyllum scalare, combining rich blue iridescence with bold marbled patterning. Each specimen displays a unique mix of deep blues, blacks, and silvery highlights, creating a fluid, ever-changing appearance as they move through the water.

This variety retains the classic angelfish profile—tall, laterally compressed bodies with long, trailing fins—while standing out for its striking coloration and contrast. Under proper lighting, the blue tones intensify, giving the fish a vivid, almost electric sheen.

Like all angelfish, Marble Blues are semi-aggressive cichlids with a natural hierarchy and mild predatory instincts, making them best suited for well-planned community or species-focused aquariums.

Care & Husbandry

Tank Size:
A minimum of 29 gallons is suitable for a single angelfish, though 40+ gallons is recommended for pairs or community setups. Taller aquariums are preferred to accommodate their vertical growth and finnage.

Diet:
Omnivorous with a strong preference for protein-rich foods:

• High-quality cichlid pellets or flakes (staple diet)
• Frozen foods such as bloodworms, mysis shrimp, and brine shrimp
• Live foods (blackworms, feeder shrimp) for enrichment and conditioning
• Occasional spirulina or vegetable-based foods for balance

Feed 1–2 times daily in moderate portions to maintain optimal health and water quality.

Tank Mates:
Choose tank mates carefully due to their semi-aggressive nature:

• Compatible: Larger tetras, gouramis, rainbowfish, Corydoras, plecos, and other semi-peaceful fish
• Use Caution: Other angelfish (pairing and territorial behavior may occur), certain barbs depending on temperament
• Avoid: Small fish (neon tetras, guppies), shrimp, and fin-nipping species (tiger barbs, serpae tetras)

• pH: 6.0–7.5
• Water Hardness: Soft to moderately hard
• Maintain clean, stable water with regular water changes
