Care & Husbandry
Tank Size:
A minimum of 180 gallons is recommended for juveniles, though 300+ gallons is ideal for long-term care. These fish require long tanks with strong current and open swimming space.
Diet:
Omnivorous with a strong preference for protein-rich foods:
- High-quality pellets (staple diet)
- Frozen foods such as shrimp, bloodworms, and fish fillets
- Live foods (insects, worms) for enrichment
- Occasional vegetable matter
Feed 1–2 times daily in moderate portions.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with similarly sized, active species:
