Description
The African Tiger Scat, also called the scatty or African scat, is a beautiful ray-finned fish from East Africa and Northern Australia. These oval-shaped fish have a distinct striping pattern, with its pale cream background paired with thick, dark bars resembling the stripes of a tiger. Interestingly enough, this species actually produces a low-grade venom that is produced by glands in their anterolateral grooves, which includes the spines on their backs.
These seasonal fish are extremely attractive in a community-based tank, where they exhibit schooling behaviors. African Tiger Scats are an incredible match with different types of African cichlids, which can help to contribute to the community environment of a tank.
