Decorus × Angelicus Hybrid Synodontis Catfish — Synodontis sp.
African patterns fused into one collector catfish
This hybrid blends two of the most recognizable African Synodontis — the long-streamered elegance of the Decorus with the bold spotting of the Angelicus. The result is a striking catfish carrying a pale to tan base color scattered with dark leopard-like spots, often paired with extended dorsal and tail streamers that trail behind as it moves. Under dim lighting the pattern stands out sharply, giving the fish a wild, almost hand-painted look.
Reaching roughly 8–12 inches, this Synodontis is active but not chaotic. During the day it prefers caves, wood, and shaded areas, then becomes far more visible once lights dim. Like many of its relatives, it frequently swims upside-down beneath driftwood and rock ledges while probing surfaces with sensitive barbels in search of food.
Hardy and adaptable, it pairs well with African cichlids and other robust community fish. The armored body and strong pectoral spines allow it to coexist safely with assertive tank mates while it scavenges leftover food and accepts pellets, frozen, and meaty offerings.
Because hybrids vary slightly in pattern and finnage, no two look exactly alike — part of the appeal for collectors wanting something familiar yet uncommon.
