L007 / L240 Toothnose Galaxy Pleco (Leporacanthicus galaxias)

The Leporacanthicus galaxias L007 / L240, or Toothnose Galaxy pleco is also known as Vampire pleco. These plecos have black bodies with bright white spots all over. These mesmerizing plecos can reach a full length of 10 inches. Although they look very similar to the galaxy pleco you can tell the difference between them by inspecting the dorsal fin and snout. These plecos enjoy a variety of a meaty diet that may include shrimp, tilapia, bloodworms, and even shrimp or algae wafers. The vampire pleco prefers water parameters of 72 to 79 degrees f and high levels of oxygen. It has been recorded that these plecos can live up to 15 years!
