DESCRIPTION

Leucistic Panda Tiger Shovelnose Catfish β€”Β Pseudoplatystoma tigrinum

Iconic stripes in rare pale contrast

The Leucistic Panda Tiger Shovelnose Catfish takes one of South America’s most recognizable predator catfish and flips the script. Instead of the traditional dark tiger striping over a silver body,This is a very rare morph, that randomly pops up from breeding thousands of offspring. The elongated body, extended barbels, and flowing forked tail give it unmistakable river predator presence β€” now amplified by rare coloration.

Native to the Amazon and Orinoco river basins, Pseudoplatystoma tigrinum is a powerful open-water cruiser rather than a stationary bottom dweller. It glides along mid-to-lower water levels, constantly alert and responsive to movement. At feeding time, the strike is fast and deliberate β€” a smooth surge forward followed by a powerful inhale.

Reaching 30–40+ inches in proper conditions, this species is a serious long-term commitment suited for large aquariums or indoor pond systems.
