Description:
The Red Rainbow Wolf Fish (Erythrinus erythrinus) is a vibrant and aggressive predator known for its intense coloration and bold personality. Unlike its larger wolf fish relatives, this species stays relatively compact while still delivering the same ferocity and predatory behavior. Its shimmering red, orange, and iridescent tones make it a true standout, especially under proper lighting. Highly interactive and full of attitude, this fish quickly becomes the dominant presence in any tank and is a favorite among hobbyists who enjoy aggressive, character-filled species.

Diet:
Carnivorous.

  • Eats fish, shrimp, worms, and other meaty foods
  • Readily accepts frozen foods such as bloodworms, shrimp, and silversides
  • Can be trained onto pellets over time
  • Feed 3–4 times per week

Behavior:

  • Extremely aggressive and territorial
  • Ambush predator that prefers to hide and strike
  • Highly interactive and aware of its surroundings
  • Best kept alone due to aggression

Max Size:

  • Up to 8–10 inches (20–25 cm)

Tank Mates:

  • Not recommended
  • Will attack or consume most tank mates
  • Best kept in a species-only setup

Tank Size:

  • Minimum: 40–55 gallons
  • Provide plenty of hiding spots (plants, driftwood, caves)
  • Tight-fitting lid required — known escape artist
  • Moderate filtration with stable water conditions

If shipment is late or damaged, but fish is alive, then you can claim for the shipping cost. All claims must be made within 2 hrs of receiving the package. A video must be submitted with your claim clearly showing the fish is dead in its original packaging and a second video of the fish out of the bag and on a dry flat surface. Claims may be denied if you fail to provide sufficient proof that clearly demonstrates loss. All compensation will be given in the form of store credit.
