Compact size. Electric color.
The Lake Kurumoi Rainbowfish is a smaller rainbow species that delivers intense color in a streamlined frame. Males develop vibrant orange-red bodies layered with electric blue striping along the flanks and dorsal region. Under proper lighting, the contrast between the warm base color and cool blue lines becomes dramatic, especially when dominant males flare during display.
Endemic to Lake Kurumoi in West Papua, Melanotaenia parva thrives in clear, well-oxygenated freshwater with stable conditions. Like most rainbowfish, it is built for motion β constantly cruising midwater and intensifying its coloration when kept in proper schools. Despite its smaller size, it carries strong personality and active behavior.
Growing to approximately 3β4 inches, the Lake Kurumoi Rainbowfish is perfect for medium-sized aquariums where vibrant schooling movement is desired without large-scale space requirements.
