Albino Peruvian Altum Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare)
The Albino Peruvian Altum Angelfish is a striking and elegant variant of Pterophyllum scalare, selectively bred to replicate the tall, dramatic profile of true Altum angelfish while offering the hardiness of tank-raised stock. This albino form features a luminous white to pale gold body, accented by bright red eyes and subtle iridescent highlights that shimmer under aquarium lighting.
Often referred to as βPeruvian Altums,β these angelfish display an elongated body shape, higher dorsal fin, and extended finnage, giving them a more vertical, commanding presence compared to standard scalare varieties. The albino genetics enhance their clean, glowing appearance, making them a standout centerpiece in any freshwater setup.
While more adaptable than true Pterophyllum altum, they still benefit from stable conditions and proper tank planning. Like all angelfish, they exhibit semi-aggressive behavior and natural predatory instincts toward smaller tank mates.
